French Onion Dip Mix

Minced Onion, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Dried Parsley, Salt, Black Pepper.

Packaged in a facility that handles tree nuts (pecans), dairy (milk) & wheat products.

Ingredients:

• 1 packet of French Onion Dip Mix
• 3 tablespoons butter
• 4 large onions, thinly sliced
• 4 cups beef broth
• 1/2 cup dry white wine (optional)
• 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
• 4 slices of toasted French bread
• 1 1/2 cups shredded Swiss or Gruyere cheese
• Salt and pepper to taste
• Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

• In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium-low heat. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft, caramelized, and golden brown. This may take about 40-50 minutes. Be patient; slow-cooking the onions is key to the rich flavor of French onion soup.
• Once the onions are caramelized, sprinkle the French Onion Dip Mix over them and stir well to coat the onions with the seasoning mix.
• Pour in the beef broth, dry white wine (if using), and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 20-25 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
• Preheat your oven's broiler.
• Ladle the hot soup into oven-safe bowls or crocks. Place a slice of toasted French bread on top of each bowl of soup.
• Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded Swiss or Gruyere cheese over each slice of bread.
• Place the bowls or crocks on a baking sheet and put them under the broiler until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly browned on top, usually 2-3 minutes. Keep a close eye on it to prevent burning.
• Carefully remove the bowls or crocks from the oven, garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired, and serve your homemade French Onion Soup hot.
